Barn Nature Center Summer Camps offer youth the chance to get up close and personal with ourover 60 rescued and re-homed animal residents. During our week-long programs, campers will embark on adventures filled with animals, science, games, arts and crafts and many other fun activities! Campers have the opportunity to become animal caretakers and will learn what it takes to keep our animal friends happy and healthy. They will assist our staff in the daily animal care, bathing, grooming, weighing, handling, and designing enrichment for our animals. We'll play interactive and educational games, work together to complete team building challenges, and even learn how to be an animal educator!
This year we will be hosting 8 weeks of Summer Camps, each with their own theme! See the different options below! We also will be offering weekly before care starting at 8:00AM and after care until 4:30PM.
Our Summer Camps are recommended for youths entering grades first though sixth.
MULTI-WEEK DISCOUNT:For every 3 weeks of camps purchased, we offer a $50 discount off the third week. This can be used for multiple children in a household (for instance, a family with 3 children coming 1 week or 2 children coming 2 weeks) as well as 1 child attending 3 weeks of camp.
All camps run 9:00am-3:00pm Campers must come with a packed lunch, re-usable water bottle and any weather specific needs. Snack will be provided everyday.
Earth is home to millions of plant and animal species, each living in their perfect niche and battling for survival. Extinction is a threat facing thousands of these species are facing endangerment for many different reasons. Join us this week to explore ways to sustain and protect our planet, along with the abundance of living-beings that reside here! During this week of camp, your child will transform into a junior conservationist as we equip them with the tools and knowledge to make a difference in the world. Aside from the focus of conservation, campers will also discover different biomes that species live in. Each biome is impacted by its own dangers that put these species at risk. Through understanding environmental needs and discovering how to practice sustainability in their everyday life, your child will learn what it means to be a true junior conservationist.
The great outdoors has a lot to offer and the Barn Nature Center is ready to utilize it! Your child will come and challenge themselves to explore the world of nature. This camp provides the opportunity to understand basic survival needs right in the safety of Doylestown. Campers will not only develop personal survival skills, but will also learn the key components of animal/wildlife survival. We welcome campers of any range of experience to participate in activities such as plant identification, examining animal tracks and scat, venturing on a bug hunt, and more all while gaining an appreciation for nature.
Sticky like Spiderman! Strong like She-Hulk! Fast like Flash! Flexible like Elastigirl! The animal kingdom is filled with creatures that have superpowers and amazing adaptations that are used to survive in their environments, defeat their predators, and sneak attack their prey, campers will discover all of the unique and fascinating abilities our animals possess, as well as their own senses. Which animals camouflage the best, run the fastest, or smell the strongest? Your child will learn all this through themed activities and crafts, while also enjoying hands-on animal interactions. If your child has enjoyed other weeks of camp this summer and is looking to dive even deeper into the world of animal care, this is the week for them! Vet Week II takes campers on a more comprehensive adventure to learn what it takes to be a vet through themed crafts, activities, and hands-on animal interaction. The focus this week will be geared towards learning suturing techniques, how to use syringes as if administering medications, animal biology and physiology, and more. This week also features a guest speaker, a real veterinarian, who will share their expertise with our campers. Being a zookeeper is a profession many children dream about. Here at the Barn Nature Center, that dream can start today with our Zookeeper Camp! Campers will be immersed into the world of zoo science as they learn how to care for exotic animal species from around the world. This week your child will discover what it takes to be a zookeeper through hands-on interactive experiences in animal care, designing exhibits, animal training, enrichment, and they will end the week with their own Keeper Talks. This week also features a visit from a professional zookeeper! If you have an aspiring zookeeper in your home, this is the perfect camp. Many children dream of being a veterinarian when they grow up. If that child is yours, send them over to the Barn Nature Center for a week full of animal fun! Campers will spend their camp days learning what veterinarians do and how to keep animals happy and healthy. To explore this, your child will learn bandaging, how to take vitals, animal body composition, the different types of veterinarians, and more! Not only will campers have a blast through themed activities and crafts, each day will include animal care of and hands-on interaction. This week also features a special guest speaker, a real veterinarian, who will share their expertise with our campers.
Explore the fascinating world of the Animal Kingdom! Fur, feathers, scales, exoskeletons, eggs, and more! Join us to discover how scientists classify all different types of animals. Campers' eyes will be opened to a whole new world as we investigate animal taxonomy, biomes, predator/prey relationships, and fascinating adaptations through fun, interactive activities, crafts, and hands-on animal interactions. Being a zookeeper is all fun and games until you have to pick up animal poop constantly! If that doesn't scare your child away from this career path, then sign them up for Zookeeper Week II! This week, campers will focus on the ins and outs of being a zookeeper, how to grow in this profession, the different aspects of a zoo and how it runs, and more. They will also investigate further into husbandry, enrichment, diets, grooming, training, and keeper talks. With lots of games, crafts, animal care, and hands-on animal interaction, this week of camp will equip your child with the tools they need to cultivate their animal loving passion! This week will also feature a guest speaker, a real zookeeper, to come share their zoo experience. Any camper attending Vet Week II or Zookeeper Week II must also attend at least one week of Conservation Curiosity, Survivalist Olympics, Superhero Senses OR Animal Kingdom. The second version of camps are much more hands-on and in depth. To ensure all campers can actively participate, it is vital that they have the prior experience from another week of camp. Thank you!
Campers have the opportunity to learn what it takes to properly care for pets at home, as well as animals in a zoo or facility, by learning about nutrition, enrichment, and professional animal husbandry.
Our campers indulge in the beauty and wonder of nature learning about Ecosystems, Habitats, and their own back yard.
Our Team Building challenges empower youth to develop communication skills, trust, confidence and work together as a cohesive group.
