The Barn Nature Center is an educational center and a home for rescued and re-homed exotic companion animals, and we are always in need of help giving our residents the best quality of life we can! As a non-profit organization, our Interns are a VITAL part of The Barn Nature Center team and gain valuable hands-on experience in the fields of zoology, wildlife science, animal science, education, wildlife conservation, communications, and public relations! Due to the time investment of training, we ask that interns commit to a minimum 3-month term, with at least one shift per week. Our flexible internship program offers many opportunities throughout the year, including, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. To apply, please email resume and application to [email protected].

Animal Care InternGain hands-on experience in animal husbandry and handling with over 40 diverse species from around the world - including reptiles, birds, mammals, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates! Take pride in learning the proper care and nutrition required to provide our resident animal ambassadors with quality lives and know that your efforts will have direct positive impacts, not only for our resident animals, but also in fostering deeper connections with the natural world and wildlife conservation values amongst our guests and community.

Education InternGain hands-on experience working with over 40 diverse species of live animal ambassadors to engage the public in wildlife education, conservation, as well as inspiring deeper connections with the natural world. Develop skills in public speaking and leading education programs with live animals including guided tours, birthday parties, summer camp, youth workshops, scout events, community events, and more! Animal ambassadors residing at the Barn Nature Center include a variety of mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.

Communications & Public Relations InternBecome an important member of our team at the Barn Nature Center, a non-profit educational animal sanctuary for rescued and rehomed exotic companion animals representing over 40 diverse species from around the world – including mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians, and invertebrates! Harness your creativity and hone your professional communication skills spanning multi-media platforms to develop graphics, flyers, social media content, fundraising opportunities, email blasts, stakeholder engagement strategies – all for the fabulous cause of helping animals and supporting community wildlife conservation education by connecting the public with the Barn Nature Center mission.
