The Barn Nature Center In The Community!
Citizen Science!
At the end of August 2019 the Barn Nature Center ran an Advanced Herpetology Workshop where staff and students traversed the trails of Peace Valley Park to search for reptiles and amphibians! All the animals that we found were photographed and identified by the students. The data was then sent to the Pennsylvania Amphibian and Reptile Survey (PARS) to help with their population study of our native herps! Shortly after we received a thank-you from The Mid-Atlantic Center for Herpetology and Conservation for our help!
Stay tuned for more citizen science events in the future! |
Story Time!
In the spring the Barn Nature Center visited the Doylestown Free Library! We read the story "The Little Tree" by Loren Long to a whole bunch of young book lovers and their families, and then introduced them to two of the Nature Center's tree-dwelling animals! We hope it helped to turn those book lovers into nature lovers as well!
